Who is a Victim
A victim is any person whose life has been affected by a criminal act, tragic circumstance or disaster, regardless of severity.
Witnesses to tragedy may also experience trauma reactions, even if the victim is unknown to them. Secondary victims may include the victim’s children, siblings, partner, spouse, co-workers and friends. Someone does not have to be physically harmed to experience emotional reactions to a devastating event. These reactions vary in intensity and duration. Victim Services supports ALL victims.
